Dalyan Mud Baths: What to Expect and Tips

The mud baths near Lake Köyceğiz are one of the most popular stops on any Dalyan holiday. They are simple, a little silly and a lot of fun – and many visitors say their skin feels wonderfully soft afterwards.
How it works
You step into a pool of warm, grey mud and cover yourself from head to toe. Then you stand in the sun until the mud dries and cracks. Finally you rinse off under showers and relax in the warm thermal water pools. Most people spend around an hour there.
How to get there
The easiest way is by boat. Our Dalyan boat trip stops at the mud baths, then continues to Iztuzu Beach, so you can wash off the last traces in the sea. There is usually a small entrance fee at the mud baths, paid on site unless the tour details say it is included.
What to bring
Wear an old or dark swimsuit – the mud can stain light fabrics. Bring a towel, flip-flops and a bottle of water. Remove jewellery before going in, as the minerals can tarnish silver.
Good to know
The thermal water is warm, so take breaks and drink water on hot days. If you are pregnant or have heart or blood pressure problems, ask your doctor before bathing in hot thermal water.
The mud baths are open all year, but they are most pleasant from April to October. Combine them with a river boat trip for the full Dalyan experience.
